Somali Federal Government officials announce an important news which refers to the preparation of the official recognizition of Somali passport by the German Government.
The Somali Government says, this is a move that will ease international travel for Somali citizens signaling renewed global confidence in the country’s security and identification document system.
According to the Director of immigration and citizenship Department of the Federal Somali Government Mr. Mustafa Dhuhulow, German Authorities are expected to finalize the decision to recognize Somali travel documents very soon. This is as a result of talks by the Somali federal Government and Germany which aimed at policy assessments and laying down regulations and terms that will help in the successful operation of the newly proposed move.
This shows how the Somali federal Government institutions are engaged in the recovery of the dignity of the Somalia’s documentation to help citizens travel safely and with dignity.
For years the European countries were hesitant to accept Somali passport due to security and verification related concerns. This has caused strict scrutiny at border checkpoints to travelers from Somalia who often faced, which restricted the freedom of movement of the Somali citizens hindering them access Educational opportunities and other important travels.
Like many other African countries, Somalia has also introduced the digital national identification cards, which enables the Somali Government speed up security scrutiny.
